This Sunday, the entire Legislature comes to the Capitol for the November Interim Session.  At the heart of it are the Joint Select Committee’s final deliberations over a proposed Marcellus regulation bill.  It’s been three years coming and it needs to happen.  We’ve endured this “gas rush” and its abuses for too long and need strong regulation.

More than ever, they need to hear from their constituents, the voters.  You can easily contact your Senators and urge them to tell the ten members of the Select Committee  that we want a bill passed by the end of the year to protect our environment and to "please make it happen."

If your Senator happens to be a member of that committee, you’re in a great position to influence a key player.  Click on their name and get their phone number.  They need to hear from you.

We have come down to the wire," Del. Tim Manchin, co-chair of the Select Committee, said in an interview this week.  “Time may be running out for lawmakers to get a measure passed in special session before the end of the year”.   Manchin said he’s been told industry officials and some Senate committee members want to slow down that process.  “They (industry) come to hearings and they say they want reasonable regulation, but we never hear what they think is reasonable”.

Please email, call or come to the Capitol.  Counter the industry lobbyists who are trying to delay or kill any regulation. By taking action, you can help keep this "gas rush" from trashing our air, land, and water.

For those of you who may want to come to Charleston for a briefing to become citizen lobbyists and visit your reps, contact me before Sunday to make arrangements.

Please note: The previously scheduled Sunday morning meeting of the Committee on Marcellus Shale has been cancelled.  Instead, they will meet at 8am on Monday, November 14th in the Senate Judiciary Room 208W and 3pm on Wednesday, November 16th in the House Judiciary Room.

Thank you for all you do.
